The Wedding Day of Elizabeth and Dennis
The wedding of Elizabeth and Dennis at the Dekalb History Center was a special occasion with family and friends. Instead of traditional bouquets, the bride and groom decided to use herbs instead. Additionally, the couple vowed their love by performing a Celtic hand-fasting. This is traditionally performed at Irish weddings. The night ended with music by Exquisite Sounds Entertainment and music from the couple’s alma mater Virginia Tech.
Cain’s Camera would like to thank Elizabeth and Dennis for choosing me to photograph their wedding. It was truly my pleasure and an honor to serve.
Their Story
How did the two of you meet?
We were in the same second year architectural studio but we didn’t talk to each other. Fast forward to fourth year when we were traveling abroad with a group of 35 architecture students and we actually met each other on that trip.
What did you do for your first date?
Our first date was unplanned. We were on our study abroad trip and no one else wanted to go to diknner except us. We found a hole in the wall Italian restaurant where they only spoke Italian and had a prefixed three course meal. We spent the evening drinking the table wine and eating delicious food. It gave us the opportunity to actually get to know each other without all our friends around.
Who proposed and how?
Dennis proposed to me while we were having a little picnic in a park near the Avondale MARTA stop. He had to wait a couple of hours because a family decided to picnic right next to us.
Lastly, can you tell us a bit about your plans for your wedding?
The wedding is on October 14, 2018 at the Historic Dekalb Courthouse. My dress is blush and Dennis’s suit is navy blue. Our bridesmaids (my sister and bf) will be wearing burgundy/wine colored dresses. We will be having herbs as our decorations instead of flowers. Herbs symbolize different aspects of life (joy, long life, etc). We are designing our own save the dates and invitations. Most of the people invited to the wedding are from out of town (CT and VA) and it will be a little bit like a college reunion for most.
